Background: Raised for the first six years of his life in a Romanian orphanage in Timişoara, Feraru was adopted by a visiting American couple when he tried to steal from his future adopted mother's purse and was found out. He grew up in relative wealth and comfort, but could not shake the fear of starvation or allow himself to grow close to his new parents. He also adapted badly to school, getting in frequent fights and later joining a small gang of delinquents. One thing led to another, and soon he had run away from home and adopted a criminal alias, stealing (and drug dealing) full time for a crime family in LA. He was eventually caught and sent to Hyde Penitentiary, where he spent four years in prison making new connections, particularly to a Chinese crime lord codenamed Ghengis. Feraru earned the nickname "Houdini" after several (nearly) successful breakouts from Hyde, and for his penchant of picking guards' pockets, "magicking up" contraband, and routinely, effortlessly escaping handcuffs.

Eventually he was hired by Epiphany to engage in a three-part theft of an ancient artifact rumored to have godly power. After Bloodstrike crashed the scene, Feraru promptly made himself absent and has been underground ever since.
